Born in Eindhoven in 1926. Van Kol passed away in 2014 in Son en Breugel.
Education: Van Kol was educated at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven.
After his education, Bert van Kol first started working as a designer and head of a design studio for advertising and textile designs. He has also been a teacher at the Graphic School in Eindhoven. However, Van Kol has been painting since the 1950s; at that time he mainly made figurative works. In the 1970s he started working more abstractly and also applied new techniques, using polyurethane. Later on, a light form of figuration returned to Van Kol's art, often in the form of the human body. The figures sometimes seem to float, which gives Bert van Kol's later work something elusive and transcendent.
