Carl-Harry STALHANE (Mariestad 1920 - Lidköping 1990)
Already at a young age Carl-Harry Stalhane trained as a sculptor under Ossip Zadkine in Paris. During his studies he traveled to Spain, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Mexico and the United States. In 1939 he started working for Rörstrand and in 1948 started designing his own ceramics within this company. Stalhane was inspired by oriental art and worked with soft designs and matte glazes. In the 1950s he changes his style and his designs become more geometric. In addition to exclusive studio designs, Stalhane also makes consumer products for industrial manufacture. From the 1960s his work became more sculptural. In 1973 Stalhane stops working at Rörstrand and sets up his own studio in Lidköping.
