Dorothea Adriana Maria Franken was born in 1958 in Bergen op Zoom.
Education:
From 1977 to 1982 Dorry Franken studied graphics and drawing at the St. Joost Academy in Breda. She then received an education at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, where she graduated in drawing and painting.
Franken lives and works in Breda.
Dorry Franken's work contains a combination of figurative and more abstract elements. The human figures portrayed by Franken are subdued and somewhat mysterious. The colors in her work are often soft, which evokes a certain sweetness. Franken only needs a small number of visual elements to create a landscape suggestion in her work. The use of color and a tranquil atmosphere bring the figurative character together with the other, more abstract elements.
