Edward HALD (Stockholm 1883 - Ebenda 1980)
From 1903 to 1904, glass and ceramic designer Edward Hald worked in England and Germany. After his return to Sweden, he worked for a period with Henri Matisse, who left a great impression on him. Hald was already a ceramist at Rörstrand, when he started designing glassware at Orrefors from 1917. During World War II, there were many cuts in materials, yet Hald continued to experiment with different designs. His products are very refined and precise, but nevertheless very suitable for mass production. At Orrefors he designed both artificial and utility glass. A well-known object that he designed together with Simon Gate and Knut Bergqvist is the Grail Glass.
