Eero AARNIO (Helsinki 1932)
After graduating, Eero Aarnio founded his own design studio in 1962. There he worked as an industrial designer and interior decorator. In the beginning, he was interested in products made from natural materials, produced using traditional handicraft techniques. However, he was of the opinion that Design was constantly innovating and for that reason started experimenting with fiberglass. With this he produced the first chair made of fiberglass. His well-known designs are the Ball Chair, the hanging Bubble Chair and the rocking Pastilli Chair. Aarnio has become best known for his furniture and interior design, but also engaged in graphic design and photography.
