The work of Eric Pool (Amsterdam) is about lines, strips and surfaces, in which the composition of the colors plays a crucial role. Sometimes a representation arises, but usually the abstract predominates.
Contemplation of Eric Pool's work leads to the discovery and devising of a system. It is a search for a dynamic of stillness and movement in order to get a grip on matter. Vibration arises from abstraction. His paintings and drawings can be read as an anonymous code, a scheme of boxes that refers to his preference for the linear. Pool: ´I mainly paint abstractly (particularly boxes), because I am fascinated by the enormous variation of this method and the fascinating result when the work is completed. It moves and is in motion. It is spectacle art'.
Eric Pool is a self-taught artist and winner of the audience award for the Visual Art Award 2008.
