Born: December 18, 1884 Place of Birth: The Hague Died: December 13, 1966 Place of Death: The Hague Biography: Frans HoosFrans Simon Hoos (Frans) was born on December 18, 1884 in The Hague. He also died here on 13 December 1966. Hoos lived and worked in The Hague until 1910, after which he left for Brussels. He then returned to The Hague and Voorburg, Nancy and Namen followed. Frans Hoos formed himself. He was initially influenced by Willem de Zwart and HG Breitner. Hoos painted landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes and portraits in the style of the Hague School and was a well-known Hague artist during his lifetime. In 1953 he was sent to France in an exchange program for three months. After his return to the Netherlands, his works, together with those of other painters sent to France, exhibited in Pulchri Studio. In March 1954, on the occasion of this exhibition, the Touringclub de France selected a selection of works, including that of Frans Hoos. Work by Frans Hoos is included in the collection of the Haags Gemeentemuseum.
