The company was founded in 1975 by Jaap Heinen. He started painting in the Japanese and Chinese Imari style and then immersed himself in Delft Blue. He set up his own studio in Putten, where he carries out the production process entirely himself. In 1985 Jaap opens a shop in Amsterdam with his son Jorrit. This is going well and they soon open more retail properties in Amsterdam. Around 2007 the economy started to deteriorate and father and son decided to switch to making Delft Blue souvenirs. These are designed and produced in the workshop in China, where they set up their own factory to guarantee quality. This turned out to be a good choice, because the products sold well again.
