Born in 1950 in Eindhoven.
Education:
From 1968 to 1972, Visch studied graphics at the St. Joost Academy of Art and Design in Den Bosch.
He has lived and worked in Boxtel and New York, among others. He currently lives and works in Eindhoven.
Until the early 1980s, Visch mainly made work on paper. His drawings and etchings consist of clean lines; image is sometimes enhanced with language. From 1982 to 1983, Visch stayed at Ateliers PS 1 in New York, where he decided to start making sculptures. His figurative images consist of very different materials. From 1984 to 1987, Visch taught at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and then for four years at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. From 1995 to 2001 he taught at the art academy in Stuttgart, from 2005 at the art academy in Münster.
Exhibitions and prizes:
In 1988 Visch represented the Netherlands at the Venice Biennale, in 1992 he was a participant of the ninth Documenta in Kassel. Visch has won several prizes, including the 2001 Visual Arts Prize from the Prince Bernhard Cultuurfonds. His images can be found in public spaces in many Dutch and foreign cities.
