Menno Jonker is a Dutch designer and artist who has made a name for himself with his glass objects and visual art. He studied at the Rietveld Academy and has been working at Royal Leerdam since 1987. He is also active as curator of Museum Het Schip and teacher at the Royal College of Art in London and the Design Academy Eindhoven. Well-known works by his hand are the memorial monument for the victims of the attack on Queen's Day 2009 in Apeldoorn and the vases he made on the occasion of special events within the royal family, such as the Amalia vase and Helix. His style tends towards abstraction with stylized shapes and bright colours. His work can be serious or playful, but it must also be accessible.
