ROYAL GOEDEWAGEN (Gouda 1779 - Nieuw-Buinen 1983)
Royal Goedewaagen was founded under the leadership of master pipe maker Dirk Goedewaagen, who was based in Gouda in the eighteenth century. His descendants Pieter and Tobias Goedewaagen took over De Star in the nineteenth century, an earthenware factory that has existed since 1610. As a result, in addition to pipes, all kinds of pottery were made within the company. Aart Goedewaagen, son of Pieter, expanded the factory until it was allowed to bear the royal designation from 1910. In 1919 the name was changed from P. Goedewaagen & Son to NV Koninklijke Hollandsche Pijpen- en Potteryfabrieken Goedewaagen. In 1923, Goedewaagen took over De Distel. From the 1970s, Goedewaagen is no longer an NV, but a BV Ten years later, the factory goes bankrupt, but is almost immediately restarted by Jan Kramer under the name Goedewaagen-Gouda BV At the end of the 1980s, the company takes over the pottery factory Flora about. Since 2007, the company has been operating under the name Royal Goedewaagen.
