In 1905 a ceramics company started under the name Klein & Schardt. From 1948 the company continued under the name Ruschka, a combination of the first and last name of the new owner and son of the original founder: Rudolph Schardt. Ruscha was known for very high quality ceramics, mainly made of white clay. Tiles and vases were produced with typical lava glazes. When the factory closed in 1996, Scheurich took over many designs that are sold under the original name today.
