The mimesis of throwing - about Sandro Vadim's painterly work

The work is the search for the work, as the composer Wolfgang Rihm once stated. Nevertheless, Sandro Vadim's painting has nothing tentative or even hesitant about it. Even if in his pictures and groups of pictures he again and again allows what has already been achieved to largely disappear behind or under someone else, one does not get the impression of a continued negation for reasons of dissatisfaction or indecisiveness. The clearness of the application of paint and the decided intensity of the colors oppose this. Rather, these pictures seem to be about the negation of what has already been achieved as a necessary condition for self-aggrandizement and self-surpassing. Such continuous finding is only to be called a search because what has been found seems to encourage new departures of its own accord.
