Saul Steinberg (1914-1999)

Saul Steinberg (1914-1999)

Saul STEINBERG

Painter, draftsman, graphic artist, photographer, wall painter.

Born in Ramnicul-Sarat (Romania) in 1914, died in New York City in 1999.

Saul Steinberg was a Romanian-American artist best known for his cartoons in The New Yorker. His drawings are so unique and original that it has been argued that what Picasso did for painting, he did for drawing. . Perhaps his best-known drawing is that of the world as seen from New York's 9th Avenue, showing the limited worldview of the inhabitants of the big city.
