Emin graduated from the Maidstone College of Art in 1986 and from the Royal College of Art in London in 1998.
Lives and works in London.
Tracey Emin is one of Britain's most talked-about and well-known artists today, and is part of the group known as Britartists or the YBAs (Young British Artists). She is known for her installations 'My Bed' from 1999 and 'Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963 – 1995' from 1997. In 2007, Emin was named a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Arts.
Exhibitions and prizes:
Emin had her first solo exhibition in 1993 in London's White Cube gallery. In 1999 she was nominated for the Turner Prize. In 2007 Emin exhibited on behalf of Great Britain at the Venice Biennale. The following year there was a major retrospective of her work in Edinburgh with a transit through Europe. In 2011, the largest solo exhibition of Emin's work took place at the Hayward Gallery in London, entitled 'Love Is What You Want.'
