WMF (1853)

Sculptor, Designer

The Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) is a manufacturer of kitchen utensils and tableware. The company was founded in 1853 under the name Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer as a metal worker. The products were mainly made in the Art Nouveau style in the WMF Art Studio under the direction of designer Albert Mayer. In the fifties and sixties, WMF started to focus on a more modern style with the designs of Wilhelm Wagenfeld. The still successful sale of coffee machines for catering establishments also started during this period. In 2006, WMF took over coffee machine manufacturer M. Schaerer AG. Today, WMF is divided into three divisions: international coffee machine sales, hotel sales and consumer sales. Silit and Kaiser are part of the WMF Group.
