Fotografen Kunstkring

Founded in 1902 - dissolved in 1969

Dutch Photographers Art Circle

The Nederlandse Fotografen Kunstkring was an association for professional photographers. Their aim was to promote artistic photography and to stimulate mutual cooperation between Dutch photographers. The founders were professional photographers who felt threatened by cheap photo studios and amateur photographers. After the First World War, due to dissatisfaction among some NFK members, the Nederlandsche Fotografen Patrons Vereeniging (NFPV) was split off. After the Second World War, amateurs were also admitted, but that number has always been limited. Within the NFK there was room for different types of photography and personal styles. Due to the decline in the number of members, the NFK merged in 1969 into the Dutch professional photographers' association NFPV to form the Professional Photographers Netherlands, under the name 'Creative Werkgroep NFK'.
