Work Community Graphic Art Rotterdam ARA

In the twentieth century, Rotterdam had a left-wing climate. This was because because of the large port there were many workers who experienced the social inequality up close. This was also reflected in the works of the Rotterdam artists. This climate made the chart popular in Rotterdam because of its reproduction possibilities. Art became accessible to a large group of people, because a work became cheaper the more editions it appeared. The Rotterdam Graphic Art Work Community was founded at the beginning of the 1950s. Later the association was given the name 'ARA' because the group moved to a studio space in Diergaarde Blijdorp. The artists of this group saw graphics as a means of making art more accessible to the general public.
