Drawing society Pictura

Drawing society Pictura in Dordrecht is the oldest existing drawing society in the Netherlands. The founders believed that drawing formed the basis of all visual art. Therefore, drawing as a craft had to be maintained. The members went out together to draw landscapes in the open air, organized exhibitions and had discussions about art. Today Pictura is a contemporary institution with more than 100 artist members from Dordrecht and the region as well as from beyond. Today it is not just about drawing and painting, but Pictura focuses on a wide range of disciplines in the visual arts.
