André Gailliaerde - ship - Sold

The well-known Schoten artist Father André Gailliaerde was born in Antwerp on December 27, 1913, studied modern humanities at the Sint-Jan Berchmans College and learned the Latin language on his own. Became Norbertijn in Averbode in 1931.
From his youth onwards he was interested in art, but it was only in his position as an economist at the Sint-Michielscollege in Brasschaat that he came into contact with the artists Alfred Ost (1884-1945) and Jack Godderis (1916-1971). ). Both encouraged him to venture onto the artistic path of drawing and painting. From then on he devoted himself tirelessly to his creative work, even after he was appointed rector of the Sint-Michielscollege in Schoten in 1962. His preference goes to the Flemish country in general and to his native city of Antwerp in particular. He exhibited several times and provided the illustrations for numerous luxurious reading and viewing books
