A work from Andy Warhol's Hans Christian Andersen Complete Suite from 1987.

A Silk Screen on Lenox Museum Board
from an edition of only 25

the Warhol Corporation Fred Hughes on behalf of The Estate of Andy Warhol,
the publishers Art Expo Denmark,
and the printer Rupert Jasen Smith, New York
(See picture).

The work also features a dry stamp from printer Rupert Jasen Smith, New York

Work size 96.5x96.5 cm.
The work is framed in a deepened thick wooden block frame.
Frame size approx. 107 x 107 cm

Literature: Feldman / Schellmann no.II.396

Who doesn't know the Danish author of fairy tales Hans Christian Andersen. Andy Warhol was inspired by Andersen and decided to create a series dedicated to the author and his unique characters. Warhol's bright blue and pink use of color makes the character stand out from the gray and black background.

Three of the four works from the HC Andersen suite feature a paper cutout style based on characters from Andersen's fairy tales. Only 1 work from the suite is a portrait of the author himself.
