Houtsnede met beeldmaat 16,3 x 11,2 cm in smaakvolle nieuwe lijst (27 x 32 cm) van de Vlaamse kunstenaar Frans Masereel (1889-1972), beroemd om zijn anti-oorlogshoutsneden tijdens de eerste wereldoorlog. De titel Het Bureel is nummer 12 uit de verzameling De Stad, uitgegeven in 1926 met een voorwoord van de socialistische voorman Jelle Troelstra. Met een kritische blik wil Masereel het leven in de grote stad met zijn vele veranderingen in het begin van de twintigste eeuw, zeg maar gedomineerd door het kapitaal, vastleggen.
