Frans Minnaert geboren te Idegem is een expressionistisch schilder en graveur. Opleiding aan de Academies van Aalst en Brussel (1954-58). Onderneemt studiereizen naar Rome (1951), Joegoslavië (1965), Zuid-Afrika (1969) en Japan (1972). Debuteert ca. 1960 met somber getinte werken in de geest van het Vlaamse expressionisme. Evolueert naar de fantastiek met wilde landschappen waarin de mens lijkt op te gaan in de fauna en flora. Vanaf ca. 1990 beheerst de vrouw zijn gevoelig en emotioneel werk. Directeur aan het HRBK Anderlecht (1975-95). Monumentaal werk in het metrostation Sint-Guido in Brussel (1982). Werk in het bezit van de Staat.
