  • Herman Paradies, (1883-1966) Havengezicht Rotterdam 

De impressionist Herman Paradies schilderde in de eerste tientallen jaren van twintigste eeuw topografische stadsgezichten van Amsterdam en Rotterdam. Vooral zijn impressies van het vooroorlogse Rotterdam documenteren de vele haventjes, vaarten, grachtjes en bruggen die de stad rijk was. Na zijn verhuizing in 1940 naar Schiedam koos de schilder vooral oude gedeelten van deze stad als onderwerp voor zijn schilderijen. In 1992 organiseerde het Stedelijk Museum Schiedam een tentoonstelling van zijn werk.
