Isaäc Naarden, was born on April 16, 1902 in Amsterdam. He was a student at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam under the direction of AJ Derkinderen and JH Jurres. He lived and worked in Amsterdam, Osnabruck, Paris, Dijon, Epe (Vaassen) until 1926, Amsterdam until 1928, Bussum until 1957, then in Laren (NH) at Naarderstraat 71.
He painted, watercoloured, drew, etched and lithographed, from impressionistic to expressionistic, portraits, landscapes, nudes and still lifes. Well-known were his exhibitions in Hotel Hamdorff and the Singer Museum in Laren. Another exhibition was held on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
Naarden was a member of St.Lucas in Amsterdam and of the Gooise Association for Visual Arts. In 1982 Naarden was made a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
He himself had an Institute for Visual Arts in Bussum. He taught, among others, NH Keller, JF Uriot, JC Verhoeven, CL Vonk.
This painting was part of a lot of which the signed painting was recently sold. My conclusion: this work is also 'signed all over' Isaäc Naarden.
