Jacques Laissue - zwei große Herzen mit einem kleinen Herz (genauer Titel ist nicht bekannt)

A poetic work about love and partnership. The family is symbolically represented with two big hearts as a couple and a small heart as the result of love and partnership. Strong, clear and at the same time beautifully coordinated colors have a pleasantly fascinating effect on the viewer.

Mixed media of oil pastel chalk and probably acrylic on 2 cm canvas. 160 x 130 cm, with a fixed metal frame (2.5 cm) with shadow gap 162.5 x 132.5 cm. Various material structures and working methods are visible within the painting, which Jacques Laissue, who was born in the Swiss Jura, used in an experimental way. He himself said about his work:
“I cannot «explain» my paintings, I can only try to say a few words about them. Sometimes I come across sentences that express what I feel. "L'art est une prière, une manière de s'adresser à l'inconnu," says Ettore Sottsass. Or Pablo Picasso put it: "I don't search, I find!" Methinks I've been looking all my life. And - oh wonder, sometimes I get closer to what I'm looking for. Sublime moments!”

About his life:
Jacques Lassie was born in 1939 in the Swiss Jura.
During his studies he had his first contact with fine arts with the Linck family in Reichenbach. Jacques' teachers recognized his talent for drawing and painting, he was encouraged, took courses with Arthur Loosli, wrote a thesis on Gauguin and occasionally worked as a drawing teacher. Laissue experiences the Bernese art scene around Harald Szeemann and associates with artists such as Mereth Oppenheim, Bernhard Luginbühl, Jean Tinguely and Rolf Iseli. Jacques worked as a journalist and documentary filmmaker until he devoted himself exclusively to painting in 1985.
