After an original by Herman Saftleven. Signature “HSL. inventor” and “Iv Aken fecit” and numbered 2 in the top left plate, difficult to read. The top left corner is spotty, otherwise the image is clear and clean. Margin at the very bottom left is also slightly spotty. A former vertical crease in the center has been repaired and has almost completely disappeared, only with side light still visible in the center of the image. The remains of a smoothed oblique fold can also be seen on the back, which is not visible on the front. Documentation in pencil on the back: “Jean van Aken, d'après H.Saft-leven, BI … 281 No 19” and the title: “l'homme portant un paquet sur le dos”. At the very bottom right between quotation marks “1647” or “1697”. The meaning of this is unclear because the dating of the series Views on the Rhine is unknown. Two paper remnants in the corners due to previous gluing. Faint remains of a note in red pencil in the top corner.
