Ko Aarts is een belangrijke hedendaagse Nederlandse kunstenaar die werkt vanuit Amsterdam en Sao Paulo (Brazilië) Zijn werk kenmerkt zich door een combinatie van fantasie en de werkelijkheid, waarbij zijn levenslozer objecten uit de werkelijkheid tot leven lijken te worden gebracht.
Ko Aarts volgde zijn opleiding aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten te Arnhem en de Rijksacademie te Amsterdam.
Gebouwen en vliegtuigen zijn onderwerpen die veelvuldig in zijn werk terugkomen. Waarbij zijn gebouwen ook als driedimensionale objecten, alleen of in groepen, worden uitgevoerd. Tevens heeft Ko Aarts veel monumentaal werk gemaakt in de openbare ruimte.
Het werk van Ko Aarts. bevindt zich in vele museale, bedrijfs en particuliere collecties, o.a. in de collecties van de ABN AMRO bank en de Nederlandse Bank
