During her education at the academy for visual arts, Lia van Leeuwen chose to specialize in etching. Over time, she has developed her own approach to this. The engraving of simple lines resulted in a personal visual language with figures and objects. The tulip, a symbol of our own culture, can be found regularly in her work. In addition to etching, Lia van Leeuwen has specialized in painting panels. The panels are created in the same way as her graphics. The drawing is scratched onto the plate with an etching needle and then processed with oil paint, brushes, rollers and stencils.
