Nic Jonk werd geboren in Schermerhorn en bracht zijn jeugd door in Langedijk.

Van 1950-1954 volgt hij de Rijksnormaalschool in Amsterdam, van 1953-1956 volgt hij een opleiding beeldhouwen aan de rijksacademie bij V.P.S. Esser.
In 1965 vestigt hij zich met zijn vrouw en zes kinderen in het Noord-Hollandse Grootschermer en start museum en beeldentuin Nic Jonk.
