In the 3rd book of the Hebrew Bible, the Old Testament of Christians, almost everything revolves around sacrifice - including animals such as sheep. Later cf. Easter lamb. The theological and emotional significance of Old Testament sacrifices are often depicted in art, particularly on Gothic winged altars or Romanesque stone Bibles. See also Atonement in Leviticus. With her sculpture "Sacrificial Animal", Nina Koch takes up a very old human theme.

The artist removes the arbitrariness of the bronze "sacrificial animal" in her expressive sculptural form language. The figurative sculpture, the sheep tied by the legs for the sacrifice, communicates a very old, religious theme of humanity. The layout of the figure as a tectonic structure, its size and the directions of the volumes are professionally considered. The sculpture functions as a votive offering. Koch gives unevenness in the sculpture's surface, partly rough work, to the sculpture's body its expressive effect.
Material: bronze, bronze colors, signature (N. Koch 1/6), edition 1 of 6.
