At the end of the 1970s, some prints of this etching were discovered in the estate of a deceased gallery owner from the area of St Tropez (southern France). According to the heirs, this gallery owner is said to have had a close business connection with Picasso. Furthermore, these sheets are said to have been listed in the gallery's inventory catalog as works by Pablo Picasso. Unfortunately, there is no evidence for these statements, so that no guarantee can be given regarding the authorship of this graphic.
Due to the similarity in form, design and content to some works from the Vollard Suite and comparable works by Picasso from this period, the statements would be understandable. However, I would be grateful to anyone who can contribute to the credible or correct assignment of the graphic.
