Rob Clous werd geboren op 28 april 1940 te Haarlem.
Hij werkt sinds 1963 als beeldend kunstenaar. Zijn werk bestaat
voornamelijk uit kleuretsen. Ook maakte hij een groot aantal wandversieringen voor scholen,
bedrijven en openbare gebouwen.
Opmerkelijk in zijn werk is de veelheid van kleuren. De heldere en kleurige prenten zijn ontstaan uit zijn vroege eenvoudige zwart-wit prenten, die hij op dakdekkerzink maakte. De etsen zijn vervaardigd met vier kleurplaten, meestal geel, rood, blauw en zwart. Bij het afdrukken passen deze precies over elkaar, en zo ontstaat een rijkdom aan kleuren.
