Valentijn Edgar Van Uytvanck (Antwerpen 1896 - Cochem 1950)
Valentijn Van Uytvanck volgde zijn opleiding aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerpen. Hij ontvluchtte in 1914 zijn geboorteland en woonde tot 1918 in Bussum. Mogelijk was de pacifistische cultuur onder kunstenaars in Het Gooi een motief om naar deze streek te trekken. Hij nam aan talrijke tentoonstellingen deel en was samen met onder meer zijn landgenoot Ost betrokken bij de oprichting van het kunstenaarsgenootschap 'De Smeden' in Blaricum.
Al tijdens de oorlog, maar vooral nadat hij in 1919 naar Amsterdam verhuisde, werd Van Uytvanck een gezocht portrettist in de literaire en artistieke kringen. De meeste werken uit zijn Bussumse periode zijn verloren gegaan.
