Fraai en kleurrijk landschap door Herman van Tongeren, uit zijn vroegere jaren. Een mooie combinatie van een grove kwast bij de planten op de voorgrond, en het zachte kleurverloop in de velden en bergen.
Van Tongeren begon met figuratief werk en is in de loop der jaren steeds meer abstract-expressionistisch gaan schilderen. In eerste instantie hebben zijn werken de natuur als inspiratiebron, later creëert hij kleurrijke geometrische vormen, gevolgd door werk uit zijn zwart-wit periode met strakke vormen zoals lijnen, rechthoeken en ruiten. Na werken met 3D-composities in hout en metaal, fotografie en tekeningen, maakt hij tegenwoordig vooral abstract-expressionistisch werk. Van Tongeren woont en werkt in Heemstede.
