Wilhelm Heinrich ‘Willem’ Klijn (Amsterdam 1892 – 1961) werd in 1892 in Amsterdam geboren, studeerde daar aan de academie. Hij was graficus, schilder, tekenaar, pastellist, aquarellist, vervaardiger van houtsnedes, etser en lithograaf. Plaats van werkzaamheid Amsterdam, Brussel, Den Helder, Wijk aan Zee (Beverwijk) en Zandvoort. Evenals de meeste Amsterdamse realisten was hij lid van De Onafhankelijken (1922) en De Brug (1926) met als leden o.a. Charley Toorop, Dick Ket , Theo Swagemakers en Willem Vaarzon Morel en met als doel de introductie van de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid in de schilderkunst.
